Friday, April 17th, 9am-12pm: Native Garden Cleanup, Planting and Xeriscaping
Audubon Society of Greater Denver: Join with outdoors enthusiasts in helping complete native landscaping or “xeriscaping.” Remove weeds and brush, add mulch and plant native trees and shrubs that require little watering and no toxic pesticides. Learn how to convert your lawn into a low-maintenance native habitat that will save you money, and protect the health of your pets and families. www.denveraudubon.org

Growing Gardens: Help transplant crops, sow seeds, and prepare garden beds for our Children’s and Youth Programs. Join us for an afternoon of fun growing food for our community! City of Denver, Dept. of Parks and Recreation: Join in protecting and restoring the South Platte River floodplain by whacking weeds, planting native willows and other vegetation, and removing trash. Healthy floodplains are not only hotspots of Colorado’s native bird diversity, but they filter urban runoff before it enters the river, and act as a natural sponge that helps mitigate floods. tinyurl.com/denverparks
 
Saturday, April 18th, 8:30am-1pm: Community Energy Efficiency Action


Rock the Earth/City of Denver Green Print Program: Join in providing low-income and senior neighborhoods with money-saving green solutions. During this “Blitz,” hundreds of volunteers will offer homeowners: porch bulbs replaced with a CFL; sign up for home recycling; junk mail reduction; FREE front yard tree; water conservation information, household hazardous waste disposal and composting.
